Hard News recording

Hard News Script

Right guys get ready for this. I was lucky enough to have a chat with Paralympian Adrian Francis about his time at the 2012 London Olympics. I asked him a few questions.

Can you tell me a bit about yourself?

Do you think the impact it had remains just as strong today?

What challenges do you face as a disabled sportsman?

What advice would you give to disabled youths who think that their disability prevents them from getting involved in sports?

Local Radio Show

  • Show was from 22:00-1:00-this is a bit too long as it can lose targeted audience, however some people may want to listen to the show the whole way through.
  • Jingle is upbeat and memorable.
  • Male presenter Simon Lederman (main).  Another presenter who presents the news that has been happening around London.
  • Both talk in a serious tone when it is serious news. Main presenter is quite entertaining and has a playful tone so that it isn’t too boring if he speaks in one tone.
  • Have live music played at the station to make it entertaining for the listeners.
  • Some silence in between particular news such as if the news is serious.
  • Has a ‘party line’ which is when they want the audience to call in and get involved from midnight till the end of the show.
  • Asks rhetorical questions so that the audience get interested and want to call in and get involved in the conversation.
  • Main presenter is very welcoming to callers and guests who are in the studio.
  • Discussed a specific news about Britain’s population- by 2037, the population could increase by 37 million. He discusses the pros and cons of this and callers call in to have their say on this particular topic.  He mentions that statistics say 1 in 12 people will be over 80 and are more likely to vote in elections.  The elderly will become more powerful when it comes to voting and will make a huge impact.
  • Second presenter talks about the news that has been happening around London. Part of London Oxford Street (Central London) was closed after a fire broke out on first floor of a refurbished building. 20 fire fighters and 4 fire engines were sent. This news is about impact as it has affected the people living or working around that area.
  • Another story mentioned was about a male cyclist who was killed in Mile End (East London) on a Barclays cycle superhighways after clash with a lorry. This news is about human interest as an innocent live was taken in a tragic accident. People who live around that area would be shocked as they may have known this person or just in general, be traumatised that this type of incident occurred in their local area.

Soft News: Interview

As part of my soft news for my radio newscast, I have decided to interview a newly formed singer Salique. As he is new in the music industry, I thought about having a little chat and finding out more about him. I have come up with a few questions to ask him:

Tell us a bit about yourself.

How did your music career start off?

Tell us a little bit about your new single

How has this changed your life?

How does it feel coming from an Asian background getting into the music industry?

Do you write your own music? If so, where do you get your inspiration from?

If you weren’t a singer, what would you be?

This Script is our rough copy for our preliminary task. We decided to improve it because it seemed too short and lacked enthusiasm.
